I thought long and hard about what to write about when asked to do this. I didn't really have a whole lot of ideas though. So while thinking about it, and staring at my desktop, I decided to do a small rant on guns, and gun control.

I am a HUGE fan of firearms. Of course when somebody hears that, the usual thought is, “Crazy, red-neck, inbred hick that wants to go duck hunting with an M-203 (for those of you not familiar with weapons, and M-203 is more or less, an M-16A2 style weapon with a 40mm grenade launcher attached to the bottom). NO. That is not me, and I don’t believe in that sort of thing. THAT, is CRAZY.

Guns, are not GUNS. They are WEAPONS. Any responsible gun owner knows that, and it is ingrained into ALL of his/her actions when handling firearms.

I seem to find more and more people these days, are VERY anti-gun. Unfortunately, many of their ideas are born from uninformed opinions and hearsay.

1. Any legal gun owner follows the laws to the letter. The majority are responsible people, which follow the rules and regulations to the letter of the law, and will not even think of flirting with breaking the rules. Those legal gun owners have earned the right to bear those arms, and purchase firearms.

2. Then you have the people that also have permits to carry concealed weapons (Carry Concealed Weapon = CCW Permit, also known as, Concealed Firearms Permit = CFP), which I personally have. Those of us that have a CCW, know the laws, know the things that we have to do to get one, and we know very well the consequences of breaking the firearms laws. An example:

1. A drunk driver gets pulled over. He is defiantly, EXTREMELY drunk, and gets sent to jail, and has to pay the normal price associated with that violation.
2. 2. A driver gets pulled over for possible DUI. The driver also has a CCW permit, and has a weapon on him at the time, as is permitted by the CCW permit. The officer gives him a breathalyzer test, and the driver is found to be 0.01 over the legal limit. The driver is now in the biggest POSSIBLE SHIT YOU CAN IMAGINE! It is FOUR TIMES AS BAD, for a person with a CCW permit to get pulled over for a DUI while armed. It is only TWICE as bad, if the person is not armed at the time. In the armed example, the individual will most likely loose his permit for life. If unarmed, there is still a possibility of the permit being revoked or suspended, at the judge’s discretion. Not to mention the fines are INFINATLY higher. You get my drift now?

Having a CCW permit is a privilege that myself and others have earned. However, just by having one, we are under a magnifying glass, and have to really watch ourselves.

It’s even WORSE if you have a FFL permit (Federal Firearms License, this is required to sell firearms as a business). The ATF can search your home with no provocation for things COMPLETELY unrelated to firearms if you have an FFL. AND, you have to let them in, or have you license revoked. A friend of mine had just such an incident happen to him. He tore up the FFL right in front of the ATF agents and threw it at them right on his front porch. The agents couldn’t do a thing, and he has never looked back. Coincidently, the ATF agents never came back. Go figure.

Just to get a CCW permit, you have to take a course on gun safety and control taught by a state certified instructor, and then be certified on revolver handguns, and/or semi-automatic handguns (I will always suggest both, for legal reasons. When your instructor signs of on your certifications, KEEP YOUR CERTIFICATIONS IN A SAFE PLACE AND DO NOT LOOSE THEM!!! If for any reason you have to pull your weapon in self defense, showing proof that you were certified to use that type of handgun that was used is a HUGE bonus in your defense if you end up in a trial).

After that is done, you must be fingerprinted, and have your photo taken to run an FBI national background check done on you. Some of the laws have changed since I received my permit, but at the time I applied, you also had to have three recommendations from upstanding citizens to send in with your application (All three of my recommendation were written by people that also had CCW permits, and were all former MARINES, so that helped. If you want to get one, and need recommendations, try to get them written by people that already have permits, and/or friends that might be in law enforcement). THEN, you have to wait six to eight weeks to find out if you were approved (it usually doesn’t take that long. I got my permit in the mail in two weeks). Not to mention that after everything is said and done, you have also spent a little over to do all this, and NONE of it is refundable. So even if you don’t get it after all that, to bad, your cash is gone. So don’t even TRY to get one if you don’t think you can get one. And just because you can buy a gun, DOES NOT MEAN, you can get a permit. A friend of mine has a LOT of guns, but can not get a permit (he got into a fight about 30 years ago in a bar. 30 YEARS. And he is STILL denied for that one reason.)

3.Then you have the illegal gun owners, and THEY are the ones that screw it up for everyone else. Those people have no idea what a firearm is, how to handle them, or what it truly means to take a life. They are immature, and have respect for anybody, not even themselves.

I guess the main point of this rant is this:

YOU STUPID ANTI-GUN MOTHERFUCKERS. Open you’re fucking eyes and ears, get your facts straight, and THEN open your mouth. Otherwise, expect to get your proverbial teeth busted out when your mouth meets fist and boot. You anti-gun assholes make me sick when you spout off your shit. You would rather sit at home fucking your own asshole with a blowup Elmo doll, thinking of Depends, and sniffing dog vomit than actually get your facts straight. Responsible gun owners are the good guys. Those “responsible” gun owners that let their kids get a hold of a firearm and splatter their brains all over their purple Barney doll should be castrated/neutered so that their stupidity can no longer infect that world. If you people are so god damn stupid that can’t see that FIREARMS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE, it is THE PERSON BEHIND THE FIREARM that kills people, then do a me a favor and take yourself out of the equation by cutting off your arms and legs, and glue a foam pad around your head. That way, your natural weapons of FEET, KNEES, FINGERS, HANDS/FISTS, and ELBOWS, can not be used as weapons. If I was ANTI-FIST, would that mean that I would want all hands removed so that I couldn’t choke somebody? Hit somebody? Throw things at people? COME ON! WAKE THE FUCK UP MORONS! It is the intent of the individual that causes death/injury. Not the gun. If you can’t get that through your head, then go blow your stupid brains out. At least the bullet would get through your head. Problem solved.
